The first country in Africa to benefit from SOWERS' training was Ghana in 1977. Perceptive leaders saw the immense benefit for the African church in using the SOWERS' Program. Now, over 30 years later, some of the first Sowers trained are still planting new churches using the simple, transferable principle. 



Baptist Breakthrough

The 85 participants drawn from 20 congregations of the Baptist Convention Ghana door-to-doorNorthern sector had a fruitful house to house witnessing after their training in a predominantly Muslim town. However the Lord blessed their outing with 100 people contacted and counselled in about 2hrs.
 

Daughter's Determination

During an open air meeting held at Amuana Praso an interesting thing happened. A 15 year old Muslim girl stood to listen to the gospel. Just as she was about to pray the sinners prayer, African Muslim girlthe mother whisked her away. However she sneaked out of the house, came to where the team had met and was led to the Lord and counselled. She is being followed up secretly by the team.
 

New Churches

Dansoman viewFor six days the Sowers team from the Dansoman circuit reached out to a village on the Bortianor Beach Rd. At the end of the outreach 59 people were counselled and with 20 people have started a new church. Members from the team go there for follow-up every Sunday. During the past three months, 517 people have been contacted and counselled and two new churches planted.
 

Ghana Breakthrough

Six separate open air meetings were held by a team of 37 in a 4-day outreach in a Happy faces in Oda, Ghanasurburb of Oda city. A total of 350 people responded to the invitations and 215 people were personally counselled. A church was planted as a result of the outreach by the Sowers team.
