Projects in SOWERS go through a rigorous approval process in several stages before appearing on the web site. Let's summarise it:
Original Proposer
The original proposer backs the idea with a good deal of fact finding and presents it to the relevant National Board.
National Project Approval
National Boards play a vital role with projects. They are best placed:
- To decide the urgency and relative importance of projects from within their country;
- To provide information to help prospective partners understand each project;
- To ensure each project's transparency and accountability.
So the National Board conducts its own review before deciding whether to approve the proposal as a national project. Only when approved at this level can it be promoted for fund raising nationally.
If the National Board also seeks international partnership, it submits the national project to the international Executive for approval.
International Project Approval
The Executive reviews for alignment with SOWERS' global strategy and international standards of research and accountability. A condition of approval is that project progress be evaluated and reported on an agreed timetable.
