Story Tellers
Both The Message and Living Bible highlight Jesus’ profound reliance on story telling. The Message paraphrases Mark 4:34 like this: With many stories like these, he presented his message to them, fitting the stories to their experience and maturity. He was never without a story when he spoke. Similarly, The Living Bible states, in fact, he taught only by illustrations in his public teaching.
Story telling was a fundamental method by which God taught the Israelites to teach their children his ways and Word. Stories of Adam and Eve, Noah, Esther, Samson, Ruth and David; of Jesus' birth, life, death and resurrection; of Jesus walking on the sea, raising the dead, and feeding the five thousand. These stories stir the hearts, interest and imagination of children and adults, and impart enduring, life-changing principles! Studies show the belief systems of adults are powerfully influenced by stories they heard growing up.
Stories that incorporate godly principles, moral behaviours, courage, faith, love, compassion and forgiveness are welcomed. They are easily digested ingredients for building Christian character.
The power of storytelling is evident in Jesus’ own teaching. The parable of the Sower is one that He taught. Given that this “story” is the basis of our ministry, let’s incorporate good stories into our preaching, teaching and sowing that are fitting to the experience and maturity of our audience.

- While away teaching in Ariwara, SOWERS training material in Lubumbashi was stolen. Pray for the recovery or replacement of the stolen material.
GHANA

- That the meeting with the Bishop of Kumasi Diocese (Methodist Church) will open doors to churches in the diocese

- That SOWERS India team ministry continues by God's grace
- That SOWERS is being introduced to church leaders, besides open-air and Level -1 training programs
