There have been repeated invitations to the Northeast of DRC and Emmanuel feels it is time to launch into this region that has been neglected and has suffered from years of fighting. He adds, "We believe that after our training of Level 1 and 2 seminars within these 20 different churches, that have shouted an SOS to SOWERS, many people will be saved."

This is a follow up to my 2022 visit. During this visit I will spend time with the National Coordinator and the National Board. I will build on last year's visit to establish working provincial committees in Zimbabwe. As I will be in Zimbabwe for the RA Conference in July, it makes good sense to tie this visit to that and maximise the airfare.

This project will provide funding assistance for churches to conduct Level 2 Seminars while the country experiences hardship and food shortages following cyclone Freddy. It will allow more churches to hold L.2 seminars as the burden of providing food for the participants will be offset by this project. This in turn will enable them to reach out into their communities with the Gospel.

This project will allow for Godfrey to travel to the southern part of Malawi to see Sowers Seniors, and relatives who were all affected by Cyclone Freddy. Godfrey's father also lives there and is very unwell. Thirty Senior Sowers have lost their houses and belongings and some family members have not been heard from, so a visit would bring comfort and be a huge encouragement to them all.

Cyclone Freddy smashed Malawi and Mozambique not once, but twice! Some places had 9 months of rain in 2 days. Every Senior Sower in Malawi has been affected. Some have lost utilities such as power and sanitation that will be out for months. Others have lost their entire homes and livelihoods. There is a desperate need for the basics of life - food, water, medicines, clothes, shelter, etc.

To train a Sower at Level 4, there is a process that they must undergo. The trainer observes how the Sower plans, prepares and leads a Level 2 seminar. On his previous visit, Emmanuel started this process, and, on this visit, he wants to observe how well they implement that training. Also, while there, Emmanuel will start the process of translating the Level 1 manual into Sango, the local language.

Since the death of Kafusha last year, Emmanuel has not visited this region to encourage the new coordinator and Sowers so he sees this as being timely. His visit will encourage the local Sowers and establish the coordinator in his role. Emmanuel plans to organise a Level 2 and Level 4 training.

For the past two years we have not been able to travel internationally because of Covid. That has resulted in the President and RAs working largely in isolation. As there is no replacement for face-to-face meetings, this conference will allow us, and our wives to enjoy some fellowship and time together.
With much responsibility resting on the shoulders of these people, having this time together will be a huge encouragement to them. We will be able to address policy changes, new innovations and current situations as a group so there will be greater involvement and greater understanding.

Following the death of Kafusha, the work in the Luapula region of DRC has slowed down. The region is in urgent need of both equipment (sketch boards, easels, paint boxes) and material (contact tracts, counselling booklets and teaching manuals etc). Once supplied with these things, the ministry of SOWERS will have all that it needs to be able to move forward again.

The work in CAR has been steadily building with each visit Emmanuel has made. With trained L4 Sowers, they need their own stock of SOWERS equipment (easels, paint boxes, sketch boards etc) and their own tracts, manuals etc, in order to develop the ministry further. This will help them to become more Independant because all of the material they currently have was carried by Emmanuel from DRC.

Without a mobile phone and motorcycle is it extremely difficult for Alexander to carry out his duties. Contacting fellow Sowers, teams or his interim board members to arrange visits and then visiting them using public transport is slow and unreliable. Having these two items will greatly facilitate his work.

This project is for 47 Lightweight sleeping bags that are less bulky than blankets easier for Sowers to travel with. Also, as many couples only have one blanket between them, this means that they both have bedding when the husband travels. A number of these sleeping bags will replace those purchased earlier that have worn out through use.

Imagine trying to run any organisation without being able to talk with your colleagues. That's the problem Sowers face in DR Congo - vast distances, no post, unaffordable purchase price on local incomes. The internet capability provides the needed remote learning opportunities.

You will have heard of the near civil war that followed the last election. Thank God that no Sowers were among those killed. Equipment and Manuals were looted though, leaving them with nothing to work with. Would you consider providing the seed funding to restart the work?
Donate online USD4980. Perhaps you have a $100? Every bit will help.
Churches are calling for training but not all can pay even the minimal cost. Others are calling us to visit to explain more about our ministry. There is a shortfall of funding. Charged with imparting vision, direction, inspiration and encouragement to Sowers around the world, the President needs to travel. Depending on where the President lives, his/her communication budget may also need boosting. Donate online. Thanks.
How did the need arise?
No other means of communication encourages and inspires people as much as a personal, face-to-face, meeting. This is the President's role in SOWERS. It has been severely restricted by the lack of funds and the work has suffered accordingly.
Project purpose
The purpose of this project is to provide a President's fund to enable him/her to carry out this vital role.
Who will do it?
The President. The fund will be administered by the international office.
Cost
USD8000 per year.
That would fund two or three significant trips per year.
Good governance is a key function in any organisation. SOWERS' Governance Board members need to represent a wide international range of interests. Stringent attention to costs ensures that most of the Board's work is done electronically. It is crucial, though, that the Board periodically meets face-to-face. Donate online. Thanks.
Stop Press! Right now there is an urgent need for printed materials so that training of church teams can continue. Could you help with one or more of the items? Click on 'read more' below for a list.
Congolese Christians have been trained by Zambian Sowers and are now spearheading the work in Katanga Province of DR Congo. Church planting is proceeding rapidly. Already the work has reached a stage where a couple of senior Sowers need to travel to train, shepherd, and develop other leaders. These experienced men need prayer and some support to replace the 'lost' income from other sources for caring for their families. Would you pray with us? They need USD400 month. If you could give part or full support, please DONATE ONLINE.
