Funding complete, thank you so much. See results below.

Income generating projects enable families to generate a greater share of their income needs. This sewing machine will allow Amos's wife (Bertha) to generate extra income from home. She has had training in dressmaking.

Dear Donor,

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I write this letter to express my great joy and appreciation for the sewing machine which I have longed for a long time.  Thank you for empowering me financially. God bless you so much.  You have been a blessing to me and my family.  My future is brighter because of this gift of a sewing machine.

Love from A, B, and family.

Final Report

The family continues to use the sewing machine as family business and they are able to support themselves from the proceeds of the business. The production has expended and the family is saving the proceeds to buy a piece of land to build their house in future. The family is able to pay school fees to their children and support them.

Original project background: ... On Wednesday we visited Amos and Bertha.  Amos is Godfrey's Assistant and also coordinates the SOWERS work around Lilongwe. He is also pastoring a newly established Baptist Church in a village near where they are living. They have two boys. Innocent and Oluwa. They were unable to have any children of their own for 12 years. Then Bertha had an operation and they had Oluwa. She is pregnant again and the baby is due in October.

Innocent was 'adopted' at a very young age when they had been married for a few years. He has severe medical challenges. The specialist thinks that his mother developed an infection while he was in the womb which has left him with epilepsy and other problems. He has not been able to go to school as when he did so a couple of years ago, his behaviour was so disruptive in class that the school asked them to remove him. This means Bertha has to stay home and cannot even go into town etc as he needs her full time. (We organised the green helmet for Innocent last year to prevent him hurting himself when he has an epileptic fit). They moved to this area in January to Pastor this new church. There are now 8 families attending and many young men - meaning about 20 now gather on Sundays.
